Paprika Recipe Manager App Reviews

Really like this app but needs a couple of improvements

I really like this app. Its easy to use and very versatile. The recipes import very well and the printouts are very good. A few suggestions for improvement: 1) Provide search capabilities by more than one category. For example, I would like to wear for "Dinner", "Quick" and "Chicken" 2) Provide the ability to make the photos on the printed recipes larger than what you have. I still like to print recipes and keep them in the book and the size choices you offer for the photos are much too small for that. 3) You should provide a "lite" or trial version of the app. Its high priced for an app without being able to see what it does and if it really works. I would have purchased it a long time ago if you offered a free trial.

Great app, needs more photos

I really want to make this my main recipe app on my iPad but I simply need more photos. I love everything else about this. I use a competitors app that is not nearly as nice for a lot recipes just because it allows me to add photos to the individual steps. There are just some recipes that need more photos, like the gingerbread house I made with my grandson. I needed to bring in several pictures to show the cutting and assembly. I am only allowed 1 photo in this app!

Need split screen and more photos

Great app! Would love to: 1. Have a split screen (ios9 feature)so I could type in or dictate a recipe from a screenshot or safari when a recipe wont import from a previously used recipe app or let me copy/paste text. 2. Be able to add more photos to directions section. 3. Add photo by highlighting a photo and tapping the photo icon when creating a new recipe.

Best App ever!!

This is an outstanding APP! Best piece of software Ive run across in years! Wife and I were looking for a way to plan our meals and reduce trips to the store. Paprika is FANTASTIC! Program is reasonably intuitive and their user manual answers basic questions to get a person moving. EASY to look up and import menus. Most food sites support menu downloads into PAP! Importing recipes from unsupported sites is a breeze! Editing recipes, super easy! Grocery lists a cake walk! Overall 15 out of 10,

Such a Disappointment

I bought the iPhone, iPad and Mac apps on Nov 2015. I managed to store at least 1400 recipes. The UI is OK, however, where it failed is the “search” function. It is beyond awful. You can only search for recipe if you know exactly what you are looking for. If you misspelled even one letter or added another letter or word that does not follow the exact description, you will receive “ZERO” result. It has no capability of searching for a particular “item/ingredient” in a recipe. You MUST spell the “TITLE” of the recipe accurately or you won’t be able to achieve any results from your search. The search function is very rudimentary. The “pantry” section is a freaking joke. It is excruciatingly limited. You can not add any item. You are stuck to what they already have in the database. I repeat, if you want to add items that aren’t in the database, you are SOL. You do not have the option to add any items on your pantry. The “pantry” feature is completely limited to “item” list only. It does not allow you to include feature/info such as quantity, expiration date, container size (weight such oz, grams, etc.). I repeat, if you have a can of tomato paste, you are only allowed to add “tomato paste.” You do not have any options to list how many cans or jars of tomato paste you have. Nor, you have an option to include info such as expiration date and the amount of tomato paste you have in your pantry. Paprika isn’t ready for Prime Time.

Suits my needs very well - with a couple exceptions

First, I love this app. Most of my recipe collection is online or printed out. This app worked very well for this kind of application. I was able to type in or look up every recipe I had. With the online ones that paprika couldnt automatically copy, the editing tools were great for getting the recipe, and I like that you can create categories, assign the recipe to multiple categories, upload your own pics, and rate the recipes. You can also create shopping lists on your device that you can "cross out" as you need. However, as in other reviews, you MUST pay for the app again for each device you use it on. They offer a "free" cloud option, but how free is it when you have to pay $5 per device to use it? This requirement makes this app less ideal for my long term use. As for some constructive criticism, for $5, the search option should be more flexible - for example - partial words should be good enough to find what youre looking for, and yield multiple results if necessary. Some of the detailed and exacting thinking behind the good features of this app work against you when you need something in a general fashion, as humans (some of us aging humans) we dont all have perfect recall, so typing in what we do remember to get what we need would be helpful.

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

This app is so easy to use. So many features to make meal planning easy. I have used several apps similar to this one. This is the best for me by far. I love the calendar a lot. I also like that you can add a note to the meal plan. Its so easy to add a recipe from anywhere. Ive not had any issue adding recipes from Pinterest at all, or from anywhere. I have tons to add from Pinterest. Im so excited that it will be an easy process. I purchased the iPad app, and the iPhone app. I will also also purchase the Computer app in the near future. This app will save me so much stress. Try this on your iPad or iPhone first. I know you will end up loving it like I did. Enjoy!

Wont email

I love this app its a great app but I have it on my windows 10 computers two of them and it wont email I can send emails on my iPad and my iPhone but not my computer Cant send the recipe

No universal App

Do not buy this app it works only on iPad. Better get the iPhone app with is actually universal.

$5 app with no tech support?!

I kept reading about this app in various cooking blogs. Evernote did not fit the whole recipe on my iPad and was clunkier, Anylist was just ugly (and I am not that picky!). I was really excited to try Paprika, and it is indeed nice to look at and easy to gather recipes. One of the key features for me was the ability to not just have a meal planning calendar, but to export to iCal so I could see meals next to my days activities. Well, I couldnt get that to work (I clicked on "export to iCal," and nothing happened). Imagine my shock when I navigated to their website and found that "due to excessive abuse", they dont offer tech support. I can submit a bug report (which I did), but there will be no response unless it IS a bug. The "knowledge base" is extremely minimal. Possibly there could be some tiny and fixable flaw in what Im doing, but I have no way of knowing and now have wasted the $5 which I spent in part for the calendar. I have emailed several app developers and they have all been very responsive and helpful. I early want to like Paprika, and Im giving it 2 starts because everything else seems to work well, but Im just not willing to put all my recipes in an app that wont help me if I have any trouble with it. Back to Evernote...

Nice app

This is a nice app and I appreciate the cross platform syncing and integration. I have it on my iPad, iPhone and Mac. Very nice. I do wish they would update it to fully support the iPad Pro multitasking features of split screen and pull over. For me the ability to pull a recipe from a website has worked well and is really nice.

Great app!

I love this app! I can easily search and save recipes from anywhere on the web. I can also save my own personal recipes all in one place. Easily sync from one device to another! Ive now had this app for over a year and I still absolutely love it! I have over 1600 recipes stored here and Ive never encountered any issues.

Like it a lot but...

I do like to edit my recipes, but the keyboard gets in the way of edit copy beneath it. And there is no way to move the content area to make it visible when the keyboard is showing. Major mess up for such an evolved app.

I cannot believe I blew $5 on this POS...

...I just LOVE it when an appCONSTANTLY crashes. I love it when I cannot use the browser in an app. And I just get orgasmic with delight when I update a POS app like PAPRIKA and it does nothing to improve its function. In fact, updating made it absolutely useless. Save your money and buy the hardcopy of The Joy of Cooking. You will get a LOTH more out of it than this lump of excrement.. So, SO disappointed.

Hands down the best recipe organizer app. Over 5,400 recipes & counting

I cant believe all the reviews complaining about the price. Out of all the recipe apps this is by far the most functional. In addition I wish people would take more time learning the functions before leaving negative reviews. If you look through the app you will see the user guide (yes you can search by name, ingredient or source) Ive been using paprika for years & the only things Id like to see different are visual which is kinda picky on my part. Id like to see a grid view (pics) & would like to choose a different color than red still I like this app & have yet to find one to compare. I have this on my iPhone, ipad & laptop & dont regret spending any $ totally worth it . If you want an ok recipe app instead of paprika then go for it but you are missing out. id buy paprika again if I had to & the support is also another plus.

IPAD ONLY!! Youll pay twice to add this to your phone.

As the title says, not worth it if youll want someone in the house to have the list on their iPhone... The description doesnt state this at all.

Fantastic browser update

I have been using Paprika for years across 4 devices and have really enjoyed it. The *only* drag was when I got the "Couldnt Import Recipe" error. I am happy to say this update has taken care of that! I have spent hours manually adding recipes from my favorite Paleo blogs that arent compatible. Thanks to the developer for really adding value to this app by saving me lots of time!

Simply the BEST!

Love the new update! Tested it this morning and now I dont have to copy/paste recipes from my favorite site..."Laura in the Kitchen" Thank you! This is the BEST recipe app out there! I have the app on my iPhone, iPad and Kindle Fire and they all sync. I use it to plan my weekly meals and make my shopping list. I had my DD and my BF download it and we share recipes. Totally worth the money!

I am in heaven!

I finally found a Mac app that will convert a Living Cookbook database. I am a recent convert from Windows to Mac and had given up hope on converting all the info from LC until this app. Some minor cleanup required but I have saved years of work. I dont mind paying for this app on each device but do hope support is there when it is needed. Right now...Im a happy camper!

Easy to add and easy to use

The ability to add recipes from the share extension makes this a breeze to use. Sending recipes from the app is easy and the resulting e-mail is clearly laid out. Also easy to share adding recipes within the family, so theres just one database. Excellent program.
